Kitesurf schoolin Tarifa

Get to know Subcielo, our team and the way we teach kitesurfing in Tarifa. You’ll Never Ride Alone.

Our story

Subcielo KiteSchool Tarifa was born in Tarifa out of a genuine passion for kitesurfing, the wind and teaching. Since 2005 we have been teaching this sport and guiding people who want to discover it and progress on the water.

In 2010 Subcielo officially became a kitesurf school in Tarifa. Since then we have accompanied hundreds of students through their first steps with the kite and on their way to riding more and more independently.

Over the years we have built a school closely tied to Tarifa and its way of living kitesurfing. Our teaching is based on safe progression, close personal attention and adapting every session to each person’s real level and the conditions of the day.

That experience is the foundation of how we work today: teaching with sound judgement, without rushing, and making sure every student gains the confidence, independence and ability to enjoy kitesurfing safely.

Our team

At Subcielo we have a team of kitesurf instructors with real teaching experience. Manuel and Victoria are at the school every day and teach directly, so you get a close, consistent and professional experience.

Part of everyday life at Subcielo

Part of everyday life at Subcielo and of the school’s friendly atmosphere. Always there on the beach and part of school life, in and out of the water.

We all share the same approach to teaching: adapting every session to each person’s real level, with safety, progression and real learning on the water as our priorities.

Teaching philosophy and method

At Subcielo we see learning to kitesurf as a progressive, personalised process. Not everyone starts from the same point or has the same goals, so we adapt our teaching to each student’s real level and to the conditions of the day in Tarifa.

01 · Adaptation

Every student starts from a different point

We take into account your previous experience, your real level, your goals and your learning pace to tailor the teaching to your needs.

02 · Progression

Learning step by step

We work through each stage progressively, consolidating knowledge and skills before moving on to the next step.

03 · Real conditions

The session adapts to the day

The wind, the state of the sea, the spot and the conditions at the time also shape how each session is run.

Our goal is not simply for you to learn how to fly a kite, but for you to gain the confidence, independence and judgement to enjoy kitesurfing safely and mindfully.

How we teach kitesurfing in Tarifa

At Subcielo we don’t run the same lesson for everyone. Before getting in the water, we take into account your experience, your level and the conditions we have that day in Tarifa.

Our teaching is progressive and adapted to each student. We work on the content and exercises that match your level, from kite control and safety to riding and technical improvement.

We want every step to make sense and for you to gain confidence little by little. We prefer solid progress to trying to move too fast.

Adapted to your level

Every student starts from a different point. We tailor the session to what you can really do and to the goals you want to work on.

Progressive learning

We master each step before moving on to the next, so your progress is safe, easy to understand and real.

Real Tarifa conditions

The wind and the state of the sea are part of the lesson. We adapt each session to the real conditions of the day.

Safety, experience and knowledge of Tarifa

For us, safety is not something added at the end of a lesson. It is part of how we work from the very start. Before every session we consider the wind, the state of the sea and each student’s real level to decide how to approach the day.

Safety

We work with checked equipment and adapt every session to the conditions and to the experience of the person in front of us. If the wind or the sea are not on our side, we look for the safest and most useful option for that day.

Experience

We have been teaching kitesurfing in Tarifa since 2005 and know first-hand how conditions and each student’s needs change. That experience has taught us there is no single way to approach every day or to teach every person.

We know Tarifa

We know the beaches, the shifts in the wind and the particularities of each spot. That local knowledge helps us judge where each session makes the most sense.

We want everyone who comes to Subcielo to learn to enjoy kitesurfing with confidence, but also to understand their surroundings and know how to handle themselves on the water with respect for others and for Tarifa’s beaches.
